Cooling

Air Con (Air-to-Air)

AC can improve comfort and productivity — especially in summer — with efficient modern systems.

What it is

Air conditioning cools indoor air (and many systems can also heat). It’s often a practical comfort upgrade for hot rooms, offices, and spaces where temperature control matters.

How it works with Warm Home

  • We help you describe the rooms/spaces and your comfort goals in plain language.
  • We explain the sensible choices (single room vs multi-split, placement, noise, running costs).
  • We route your enquiry to the right installer/company for survey and quote.

Good fit when…

  • Bedrooms that overheat in summer
  • Loft conversions and sun-facing rooms
  • Offices/shops needing steady comfort

Not ideal when…

  • If the main issue is draughts/poor insulation (fix that first)
  • If you want ‘whole home’ improvement but only one room overheats (zoning may be better)

Pros

  • Fast comfort improvement
  • Good temperature control (especially for specific rooms)
  • Many systems are efficient and quiet

Cons

  • Poor placement can cause noise/drafts
  • Needs tidy pipe/cable runs (quality of install matters)
  • Not a substitute for insulation if the building performs badly

A sensible order

This is the “don’t waste money” path — comfort first, then savings.

  • Identify the rooms that overheat (and why)
  • Check shading/ventilation basics
  • Choose the right system type (single vs multi)
  • Install + controls setup

Homeowners

Homeowners often get best value by cooling the rooms that matter most (bedroom/living room) rather than trying to do everything at once.

Commercial

Commercial installs usually need clearer planning: hours of use, comfort targets, maintenance access, and consistent equipment across sites.

Plain tips

  • AC is great when you target the right rooms.
  • Ask about noise levels and unit placement early.
  • If you’re cold in winter and hot in summer, insulation and ventilation should be part of the plan.

Grants & funding

There are not usually direct government grants for this service. If that changes, we’ll keep it updated on the Grants page.

Next steps

  • If you have one or two rooms in mind, send an enquiry with room sizes and what you’re trying to fix
  • If you’re not sure, run the wizard and we’ll suggest a calm order of upgrades
